Sir Clement Freud

I had the pleasure of photographing Sir Clement on several occasions during my time as an editorial photographer. He was dour but had a wicked sense of humour. Of course, he was best known for his wonderful contributions to ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’ the Radio 4 ‘antidote to panel games’. Very much missed. Although in the credit here it says he was photographed in his home, I think this shot was done in the House of Commons. I photographed several MPs there, including Edwina Curry and Paddy Ashdown. Over the years I was also lucky enough to photograph John Major, Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair, usually at their homes. One of the writers I worked with was Alistair Campbell, before he became press officer for the Blair administration.
