Steve Shipman’s Blog

Hi everyone! I’m Steve and this is my blog. You are very welcome, and I hope you enjoy reading and getting involved with Steve Shipman Photography.

I am primarily a wedding photographer, based in sunny St Albans in Hertfordshire. I travel all over the country for my lovely clients, and occasionally get across the channel! I have always been a photographer, and started my career photographing celebrities for magazines, great fun! I have worked for all the Sunday magazines, and loads of other monthly titles as well. I have work in the National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection, which sounds grand, and it is! I’m very proud of that.

Round about 1999 I photographed a couple of friends’ weddings, on  my new digital camera, bought jointly with another photographer friend (£8000.00!!) and suddenly I knew I could do weddings in a fun and energetic way, and in the style of my magazine work, with images composed for front covers and double page spreads.

This is where I come from, photographically, trying hard not to be a ‘wedding’ photographer, yet trying really hard to be a really good photographer of people at weddings.
